Hoboken, N.J. – Academy Bus, a leading provider of bus services in the Northeast, is expanding regular commuter service deeper into southern parts of New Jersey. On September 6, 2011, Academy Bus will begin offering a new commuter service operating between Lakehurst, Jackson and Manchester Townships in Ocean County to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City.
Academy Bus will offer service multiple trips daily, originating from Union Avenue in Lakehurst and making various stops along Routes 547 and 526 in Manchester and Jackson Townships, including Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. A grant from the Federal Transit Administration administered by NJ TRANSIT to promote intercity transit services contributed to making the new offering possible.
“Academy Bus has already established a significant presence throughout the area,” explained Greg Rhodes, Marketing Manager for Academy Bus. “We are pleased to be building on that service and expanding our reach to these locations, many for the first time.”
Riders will enjoy the most modern fleet of buses in the Northeast, equipped with amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi.
“This expansion provides underserved residents of these communities with more options and service availability to Manhattan and significant points in between,” Rhodes said.
